WA Labor has surpassed more than 30 years of ambulance ramping since they came to Government said Acting Liberal Leader, Steve Martin MLC.

“The Cook Labor has allowed WA ambulances to sit on the ramp for almost 270,000 hours since they were elected – that is the equivalent of more than 30 years,” said Mr Martin.

“We have just recorded the worst June ever, and this Health Minister has overseen three of the three worst years for ambulance ramping ever recorded in Western Australia.

“Roger Cook said 1,000 hours of ramping was a crisis, but WA has now lived through 50 months in a row with more than 1,000 hours of ramping.

Despite the Premier’s claim year-on-year figures show an improvement, the 5,739.1 hours recorded in June are still above the average ramping figures overseen by WA Labor.

“Roger Cook’s Health Minister has overseen almost 200,000 hours of ramping alone,” said Mr Martin.

“WA’s ramping crisis is not a product of winter – we have June every year.

“We have lived through the worst June on record, and the ambulance ramping crisis across the state is entirely the product of the mismanagement and incompetence of the Cook Labor Government.

“WA is living in an era of out-of-control ramping, exhausted and overworked healthcare professionals, unprecedented elective surgery and specialist waitlists, and unacceptable patient deaths, because of this Labor Government’s inaction.

“Roger Cook says he is proud of his record in health – 30 years of ramping shows there is absolutely nothing to be proud of,” said Mr Martin.
